Canada Day means something different to everyone.
For many Canadians, it’s a time to gather with family and friends, enjoy local celebrations, and reflect on what makes this country home. For many Indigenous Peoples, however, July 1 can also be a difficult reminder of the impacts of colonization, residential schools, and generations of displacement and loss.
At Archer’s Community Hub,
we believe that being a community means making space for both celebration and reflection.
We are grateful to live and work on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples,
represented today by the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We recognize that these lands have been cared for since time immemorial, and we are committed to continuing our own journey of learning, listening, and building meaningful relationships.
Community isn’t built by pretending history didn’t happen. It’s built by acknowledging it, learning from it, and working together toward a better future.
Our vision at Archer’s Community Hub
has always been to create a place where everyone belongs—a place where people from every culture, background, age, ability, and lived experience can come together to connect, create, learn, and support one another. We believe that understanding one another’s stories is one of the strongest foundations for building a healthier and more inclusive community.
Whether today is one of celebration, reflection, or both, we hope you find time to connect with the people around you.
Thank you to everyone who continues to make our community stronger through kindness, compassion, creativity, and respect.
From our family to yours, we wish you a safe, meaningful, and peaceful Canada Day.
Happy Canada Day.
